MORRO BAY, Calif., Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The quaint town of Morro Bay, CA is celebrating the spirit and history of this working fishing village in style this holiday season. Crab Pot Holiday Trees will set the mood and the inaugural Winterfest will deliver twelve days of fun! Renowned for the signature 576-foot tall volcanic rock sitting majestic between the Pacific Ocean and the peaceful bay, this bustling seaside village offers moderate winter weather, making it a must-do destination for outdoor adventurers, boating enthusiasts, and holiday shoppers who want to merry make during this special time of year. Explore two historic tall ships, watch three different parades of lighted boats gliding through the harbor along the Embarcadero, visit Santa's House, participate in the Santa Crawl for 21 and over, and frolic in REAL snow. Or just relax and enjoy Morro Bay's unique shopping opportunities and great hotel deals. Did we mention kids get FREE stuff throughout the month of November and December?
Crab Pot Christmas Trees
To celebrate its heritage, the working fishing village of Morro Bay built its first crab pot holiday tree from local buoys, crab pots and fishing gear last year in Tidelands Park on the Embarcadero. It was such a hit, this year the city will again light its homemade creation in honor of the local fishing community, and decided to import and additional 14 crab pot trees from a Coastal North Carolina crab trap maker and place them all over town.
"Our fishing community works so hard throughout the year. This is such a great way to celebrate our maritime heritage at the holidays," says Jennifer Little, Morro Bay Tourism Manager. "The Central Coast Fisheries for Women coordinated the whole thing, and we are the lucky ones who get to promote how wonderful our local seafood and fishing families are."
