130-Year-Old Children's Charity Becomes A Part of the Evansville Community to Provide Foster Care to Kids With Special Needs
EVANSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 130-year-old children's charity, KidsPeace, is reaching out to the Evansville community to help provide foster care to children striving to overcome crises in their young lives. The KidsPeace Evansville Foster Care and Community Programs site is opening its doors to provide therapeutic foster care to youth in the foster care system in Vanderburgh County.
The Evansville Therapeutic Foster Care Program serves males and females from infancy through 21. Treatment services address a wide variety of social and emotional difficulties, developmental delays, learning problems, psychological disturbances, and behavioral challenges. Weekly scheduled in-person casework management offered by KidsPeace ensures success in all areas of a child's life. Services are offered 24/7 and increase the resiliency of both the child's placement and foster parents' ability to provide effective interventions while the child lives in their home. KidsPeace has worked to develop a Model of Care rooted in research which contributes to children overcoming childhood adversity and high levels of risk helping them to move forward so they may lead successful lives in adulthood.
An open house will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the new office location, 4929 River Wind Drive, Suite 102 in Evansville. The open house is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a special presentation and photo opportunity starting at 3:30 p.m.
The start-up of the program is being funded by a federal grant. The Evansville location, the fifth foster care and community programs location operated by KidsPeace in the state of Indiana, will allow KidsPeace to serve children in foster homes in the local community, giving them an opportunity to stay near familiar surroundings, rather than moving farther away from home.
To learn more about the program or about becoming a foster parent, please call 812-618-0803 or 1-866-498-6883.
