122nd Canton Fair Promotes Intelligent Manufacturing
GUANGZHOU, China, Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 122nd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) has hosted the 2017 Canton Fair Machinery Summit ("The Summit") during the exhibition. Themed "Intelligent Development of Machinery in New Economic Environment", the Summit gathered industry leaders to explore development and innovation in intelligent manufacturing (IM) in the machinery industry.
"We are thrilled to host this summit to share a new direction for manufacturers," said Maggie Pu, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Canton Fair. "With the current global economy being around USD 70 trillion, in which global enterprises account for about 30%, or a total of USD 20 trillion, we can see growing demand for industrial business seeking a deeper understanding of the current status of the machinery industry."
IM Works as Problem-Solving Approach
Zhang Qiliang, CEO of XCMG Information Co., Ltd., gave a talk entitled "Industrial Big Data Drives Manufacturing Industry". He offered detailed analysis on the importance of intelligent technologies such as the internet and big data on traditional machinery manufacturing and shared XCMG's achievements in intelligent machinery.
"Intelligent manufacturing is a way of embedding big data within the latest products and being integrated later by a cloud platform so that manufacturers can get more vivid profiles of equipment, enterprises and customers. These profiles will be of great use in new product manufacturing, enterprise inventory logistics, operation surveillance, risk alert, after-sales service and user application," Zhang said.
Zhang believes that applying IM can be a problem-solving approach to overcome the challenges of overcapacity, high cost, low profit and lack of quality control faced by traditional manufacturing companies. He described the process of introducing intelligent solutions in four phases: industry solutions, intelligence-driven manufacturing, core platform and open Internet of Things (IoT).
Antonio Pinato, General Manager of AMV Design, Italy, also demonstrated his design concepts for machinery equipment under new situations while Liu Yang, chief scientist of Gulee Technology Co., Ltd, showed the development dynamics of IoT sensors in the artificial intelligence industry chain.
IM Opens a New Direction for Industrial Business
With 1,700 machinery exhibitors participating at the 122nd Canton Fair, machinery remains a key product category in international trade. The transaction volume of machinery products accounted for 52.7 percent of total turnover, reaching USD 15.91 billion, a 5.4 percent year-on-year increase.
Liu Jun, Director of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Sippr Engineering Co., Ltd., noted that IM has become a breakthrough by which traditional manufacturing enterprises can accomplish transformation and upgrade as intelligent technology is rapidly moving forward across the world.
