122nd Canton Fair Presents Creative Design Products
GUANGZHOU, China, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A broad array of creative design products was presented at the recent 122nd China Import & Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou, during which 72 products from 57 companies received awards at the 2017 Canton Fair Design Awards (the Awards).
Maggie Pu, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Canton Fair, emphasized that innovative design is gradually replacing traditional manufacturing as the core value for various industries. "Good products can bring value to brands and orders, and the orders will then motivate companies to create better products," Pu said. "We are willing to invest resources in design and innovation to help facilitate a virtuous cycle."
Canton Fair Promotes Design Concepts
Through special design exhibitions connecting designers and companies as well as hosting the Awards, the 122nd Canton Fair has guided many companies to improve their capabilities in product design and innovation.
The 105 design institutions that attended the 2017 Canton Fair received more than 20,000 design service inquires, 48.6 percent of which had follow-ups. The Canton Fair also hosted a series of discussion forums on creative design and technology R&D to promote further development of the design fields.
Gao Xiaolin, General Manager of Graceful Arts Industrial, noted that the company's focus is now on investing more on design. "We came to Canton Fair not only because it's a platform to connect with our clients and gain insights of the industry, but also because it's a stage to demonstrate our strength in design," Gao said. "Graceful Arts Industrial has always been creating its own style and innovative products, and we are leading the trends of several fields in global home decoration."
New Product Launch at the Canton Fair
Stanislas Gnassounou, manager of global sourcing Asia for Carrefour, noted that at the 121st Canton Fair many manufacturers that attended showed significant accomplishments in design and innovation as well as improvements in both the exterior design and functionality of their products. "What's different from the past is that companies used to focus on the number of orders; now they are talking about design concepts and new development, I think it's a very good improvement and trend," Gnassounou said.
Million Stone, a leading framer from Xiamen, arranged its display at the Fair in the style of a classic museum. The company brought a series of creative products made using recycled newspaper, magazines, tree leaves and seashells, combining the environmental protection concept with innovative design to turn waste into valuable art products.
"Our fundamental principle is to be environmentally-friendly and use recyclable materials. Creativity is the core value of our products," said Yang Ruixiang, general manager of Million Stone.
