11th Annual $5,000 Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship And 3rd Annual $2,500 Press Club Scholarship For Outstanding Aspiring Journalists

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is taking applications for the 11th Annual Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship and the 3rd Annual Press Club Scholarship. The $5,000 Fryer and $2,500 Press Club Scholarship are intended to reward outstanding students studying journalism or similar majors and planning careers in print journalism, online journalism, photojournalism or broadcasting. The scholarships will be awarded May 25, 2017, at the annual Golden Quills Dinner sponsored by The Press Club.
Candidates must be sophomores or juniors enrolled in an accredited college or university. They must be able to demonstrate why they should receive the award. Their primary residence must be in one of the 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania (see list below).
The scholarship money will be credited to the winner's account at their university or college. Deadline for applications is Feb. 1, 2017. The scholarship committee will review applications and select the deserving journalists. The winner will be notified by April 12.
