ATLANTA, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Eleven physicians from Georgia Urology — the largest urology practice in the state and the Southeastern United States — were recently honored as Top Doctors in metro Atlanta.
Drs. Roosevelt Allen Jr., Carl C. Capelouto, Allen Futral, III, Lawrence M. Goldstone, Mark A. Haber, J. Andrew Kirsch, A. Keith Levinson, Scott D. Miller, Hal C. Scherz, Fred S. Shessel and Barry M. Zisholtz received the honor from Atlanta magazine in its July issue. Physicians from the practice represented nine of the 20 (45 percent) in the publication's urology specialty list. Two Georgia Urology physicians, Drs. Miller and Kirsch, carry the distinction as National Top Doctors from established healthcare research firm Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. According to Castle Connolly, the distinction "aim(s) to identify the top 1 percent of specialists and sub-specialists" in the United States.
For its annual Top Doctors issue, Atlanta magazine uses a database compiled by Castle Connolly to assist in its efforts. This year, the publication honored 623 physicians. Castle Connolly's physician-led team of researchers select the Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes an evaluation of educational and professional experience.
Dr. Haber, Georgia Urology's managing partner, said receiving the award is a great honor.
"These awards are a testament to the quality of our doctors and the quality of our practice – something our patients already know," he said. "Recognition like this should continue to instill confidence in our patients' minds about the decision to receive their treatment at Georgia Urology."
Georgia Urology is the largest urology practice in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. Georgia Urology has 29 locations and six ambulatory surgery centers. The practice is comprised of 41 physicians, many of whom are fellowship-trained and hold advanced specialty training in oncology, laparoscopy, infertility, incontinence and pediatrics. It is the practice's mission to deliver the highest possible quality of care to all patients and to be the preeminent urology practice in the region.
