After some speculation and debate, a 1,000-Ft slip-n-slide event known as The Urban Slide is confirmed to come to the city of Lawrence on August 8th and 9th. The Urban Slide is a nationwide series of slip-n-slide events that has already appeared in major cities such as Jacksonville, Houston, Dallas, Baltimore, and Denver.
A video of the slide in action can be viewed here.
People who want to slide can register online at the event's website and get tickets. For those who want to simply arrive and slide, The Urban Slide offers walk-up registrations at the event as well. Riders can slide once, three times, or an unlimited amount of times depending on the ticket type purchased.
Pricing for The Urban Slide varies and depends mainly on two factors:
- How early a registration is made before the event begins – the earlier the registration is made, the lower the ticket price
- How many times one wants to go down the slide
The slide will run from 12:00pm-6:30pm on Saturday, and 10:00am-5:00pm on Sunday. On Saturday night from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, The Urban Slide will be held at night for participants who purchase special night slide tickets. The night slide will include lights, LEDs and lasers that will illuminate the slide to give it a unique night party atmosphere.
Other features and amenities of The Urban Slide will include:
- Food trucks to give out lunch and snacks to participants and onlookers
- Music which will play beats along the entire slide
- A bag check area to secure footwear and other belongings as people go down the slide
- Store items such as cellphone covers, bags, glasses, extra inflatable tubes, and more
For those who want more info about the slide, they can email Derrest Williams or call 281-550-1080.
