LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) will host a press conference today to demand the City of Los Angeles immediately eradicate mold and bird droppings found in and around the Southeast Community Police Station and provide medical testing for each officer and other personnel assigned to this station. Over 100 LAPD police officers have filed medical-related claims related related to the unhealthy and unsanitary conditions. The Station's HVAC system vents are covered by black mold. The HVAC equipment on the roof is covered in bird droppings and bird feathers. Officers have been affected with respiratory illnesses, adult onset asthma, severe and chronic sinus infections and other health related issues. The LAPPL is demanding that the City fully study the extent of the environmental exposure at Southeast Division, as well as other stations, and that the City fully mitigate all conditions that may present a health risk to officers, civilians and the public.
