SAN DIEGO, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SweetLabs, Inc., the company behind the Pokki app platform and OpenCandy advertising network, today announced that it will host and sponsor "10 Startups, $100 Million in Funding, 100 New Jobs" (www.10x100x100SD.com) on December 1st at the company's headquarters in downtown San Diego.
The event, featuring SweetLabs and nine other innovative San Diego tech startups, is free for qualified local product managers, developers and designers interested in job opportunities at San Diego's hottest startup companies. The evening will kick off with a fireside chat between San Diego entrepreneur Michael Robertson, founder of a number of successful tech startups including MP3.com, Linspire, and Gizmo5, and Joe Kraus, founder of Excite and JotSpot and currently a partner at Google Ventures. Following the discussion, attendees will have the chance to network with representatives from 10 San Diego tech startup companies over gourmet appetizers and a hosted bar.
"Everyone knows that the quality of life in San Diego is the envy of every other city in the country, but not nearly enough attention is paid to our growing startup community, which is an engine of real innovation and local job creation during this difficult economic period," said Chester Ng, co-founder and CMO of SweetLabs. "We want product managers, designers, developers and other technology superstars to understand that they don't have to sacrifice the San Diego lifestyle in order to find the startup job of their dreams, and we've partnered with the most exciting companies in town to showcase the great opportunities available right here in our own backyard."
Participating companies will be announced on the event website in the coming weeks, and representatives from each company will host a table with information on their products and job openings. The party will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on December 1 at SweetLabs offices at 510 Market Street. Qualified attendees can register to attend online at www.10x100x100SD.com.
