FrieslandCampina Asia Wins CSR Leadership Award
SINGAPORE, March 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- FrieslandCampina, one of the world's leading dairy companies, today announced that it has won the CSR Leadership Award (Silver) at the 9th Annual Global CSR Awards 2017.
Given to an organisation that has made significant contributions to the promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the award honours FrieslandCampina's work in ensuring sustainability throughout its value chain, and for the execution of its signature CSR initiative, the Dairy Development Programme (DDP).
Since the establishment of the DDP in 2012, the programme has reached over 45,000 smallholder farmers directly and indirectly in Asia, empowering them with the resources to run their businesses sustainably, as well as increase their yield and output through capacity building efforts such as training and the provision of access to inclusive finance.
Commenting on the award win, Mr. Piet Hilarides, Chief Operating Officer, Consumer Products Asia, FrieslandCampina said: "This CSR Leadership Award is an affirmation and reminder of the important responsibility that we as a corporation have in creating shared value for the communities in which we live and operate in.
"We are humbled and grateful to all our partners for their constant support of our DDP initiatives to ensure that smallholder farmers around the region continue to benefit from the programme and are able to make a good living now and for generations to come."
The CSR Leadership Award was presented at a ceremony held yesterday evening as part of the 9th Annual Global CSR Summit and Awards in Langkawi, Malaysia. The awards honour companies for outstanding, innovative and world-class programmes and projects that demonstrate an on-going commitment to ethical values, a respect for communities and the environment in the way it does business.
