Nearly 2,300 entertainment press releases were distributed over PR Newswire throughout September and October and they continued to amuse news consumers, journalists, and the PR Newswire team alike.

Readers were drawn to wildly different releases that covered a variety of topics, from TV to AI, Champagne, and gaming.

The largest trends, and the ones that we'll cover in this post, related to Hispanic Heritage Month, various entertainment-related awards, and Halloween.  We'll discuss these more in-depth later, but first we'll look at the most popular entertainment releases sent over the wire in September and October 2023.

Here’s a look at a few of the trends we noticed among entertainment-related press releases in September and October, with a few examples of each.

Hispanic Heritage Month

PR Newswire saw nearly 70 press releases celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month cross the wire during the past two months. Companies celebrated through art, music, child welfare programs, fashion, sports, podcasts, individual honors, and more. There was no stone unturned in ensuring the month saw varied celebrations.

Here are a few of the releases highlighting the celebrations:

  • The Art Institute of Chicago was zestful with its Hispanic Heritage Month bash hosted by We Are All Human Foundation. The event focused on the "Remedios Varo: Science Fictions" exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago, giving onlookers the opportunity to engulf themselves in the world of Hispanic art.
  • Throughout the month, LATV, the leading English-speaking Gen Z and Millennial Latino entertainment network, put out special shows honoring the legacy of past and current Latino artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and entrepreneurs.
  • The Paley Center for Media shared the most anticipated fall season of best-in-class programming, thought-provoking series, and industry-facing events at The Paley Museum. The lineup included A Paley Tribute to Roberto Clementemarking the 50th anniversary of Roberto Clemente's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
  • To boost equal representation in the arts amongst Latinos, Naples High School ‘s announced the launch of its Act2r nonprofit.

Halloween

It was the “boo” season in October and the most awaited celebration of the month — Halloween — saw more than 150 releases on PR Newswire. Early bird tickets were announced for various haunted houses across the country. Halloween took over mobile games, live music, a film festival, gifts, cosmetics, dating apps, and even pizza.

These scare fests were sure to give consumers the memories of lifetime.

Haunted Attractions

  • Looking for haunted attractions? Worry not. America Haunts, the association of premiere haunted attractions, gave readers the top haunted attractions in the nation. These venues offer laughter, bonding, exercise, mystery, camaraderie, and personal growth combined with the spookiness of Halloween.
  • The 49th Haunt Season in Kansas City is set to thrill the audience from September 22 through November 11.
  • The second annual Pumpkin Palooza celebration by Discovery Cube in Orange County welcomed all to have a scary time this Halloween, hosting several scientific and fun-filled activities.
  • Watch out for Halloween Boo-tacular by Chuck E. Cheese.

Let the Halloween Games Begin

  • Puzzles & Survival teamed with the iconic SAW film franchise to launch games in which players can see characters like Jigsaw, Amanda Young, and Billy the Puppet as they move from the big screen in SAW X into the post-apocalyptic world of Puzzles & Survival.

AI in Halloween

  • Not sure of which Halloween character to choose? Fotor announced the Happy Halloween with Fotor AI event. This eerie event allows users to seamlessly adopt the appearance of iconic Halloween characters like a vampire, witch, or zombie.
  • This Halloween, A.I.RHEADS SCAREFEST came up with a film festival challenge and invited filmmakers to put their heads together to showcase their own AI-generated Halloween-themed short film to win $2,000 and a year's supply of Airheads candy .

Awards

While it may not technically be "awards season," the entertainment industry had a wide array of awards given to various recipients as a token of appreciation in fields like emerging talent, music, theatre, fashion, and more.
