Zoobean and The Good Men Project Announce #DadsRead Campaign
Nationwide Father's Day Promotion Encourages Dads to Read More to Their Children
WASHINGTON, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- To celebrate Father's Day, children's app and book curation service, Zoobean (www.zoobean.com) and The Good Men Project (www.goodmenproject.com) have launched a campaign to encourage fathers to read more frequently to their children. All this week, mom and dad bloggers will address this campaign and tell their audiences about the importance of a father's involvement in helping their kids learn to read by reading to them regularly. The #DadsRead campaign will be capped off by a Twitter party on Thursday.
The Good Men Project is a community of thought leaders participating in a conversation about men's roles in modern life, presenting an enlightened approach to manhood and fatherhood. Zoobean is a web service that curates apps, books, and other learning resources for little kids, and is dedicated to promoting literacy.
The partnership is in response to a widely acknowledged need for fathers to engage completely in their kid's lives, especially with reading. Together these organizations are galvanizing hundreds of bloggers and communities to talk about the important issue of dads and their relationship to literacy, especially with boys.
Said Good Men Project's Tom Burns, "As an active father and avid reader, I know how important it is to read to my daughter daily. I want to use Father's Day as an opportunity to remind dads everywhere to pick up a book and read with their children." While fathers are more involved than ever in their kids' lives, Burns believes there is still room to grow when it comes to engaging them in books and helping them to develop their reading skills.
According to Zoobean's "Chief Dad," Felix Lloyd, "Studies tell us that only 13 percent of dads say they're the 'main reader' with their kids, and fewer than 20 percent of young fathers enjoy reading at bedtime. We hope this campaign helps to improve those numbers and encourage the many dads out there who already are actively engaged in building their kids' literacy."
The #DadsRead Campaign is expected to reach several million people with their message. Zoobean and The Good Men Project have worked together to galvanize an army of dad and mom bloggers to talk with their audiences about the importance of dads reading. On Thursday, June 12 at 8pm ET, they will co-host a Twitter party. For further details on how to get involved, visit www.zoobean.com/dadsread
