CLEVELAND, Feb. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society hosted Zoetic Global, a US-based project developer in energy and agriculture, for an open house featuring controlled environment agriculture solutions and renewable energy contributing to the improvement of populations throughout the developing world.
The event, which took place at the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland, allowed Zoetic executive team members to educate attendees on aquaponics systems which combine conventional aquaculture (raising fish in tanks) and hydroponics (producing plants in water rather than soil) into symbiotic systems used to grow produce and plant products, year-round, in climate-controlled environments.
The Zoetic presentations focused on healthcare and medical research with themes ranging from 'prescription food' for special dietary needs in autism and chronic disease to international food security programs. Zoetic is implementing a nationwide aquaponics program with Ghana's Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture this year.
"Hosting our guests at the Global Center for Health Innovation with HIMSS fits our business mission well," says Jerome Ringo, CEO of Zoetic. "The technologies used in our energy and agriculture projects around the world are chosen not just for commercial potential but for their ability to sustain lives."
Also featured at the event was modular hydrokinetic energy technology designed for rural electrification, showcasing recent power generation contracts Zoetic recently finalized in West Africa. Guests learned about the pervasive power outages facing many growing economies on the African continent and the need for new solutions in energy security to lay the foundation for broader development in business, healthcare and education.
"The Zoetic demonstration provided visitors to the HIMSS Innovation Center a unique opportunity to experience state-of-the-art hydrokinetic technologies and learn about the concept of aquaponics," said John Paganini, senior manager of the HIMSS Innovation Center. "The positive global impact of renewable energy and sustainable agriculture is core to the HIMSS vision of better heath through information technology."
Zoetic Global is a project development firm deploying life-sustaining technology solutions in Energy, Water and Food security.
