Ziploc® Brand and TerraCycle, Inc. Kick Off Search for Moms Who Make a Difference
Ziploc® Brand and TerraCycle 'Make-A-Difference-Mom' Contest Expands Brigade Recycling Programs In Schools Nationwide
RACINE, Wis., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- This fall, Ziploc® Brand, the food and home storage solution families trust, and TerraCycle, Inc., makers of eco-friendly products derived from recycled materials, are celebrating moms who take action today to help create a better tomorrow. Ziploc® Brand and TerraCycle are searching nationwide for the "Make-A-Difference-Mom," a resourceful mom who is taking steps to make a difference for the environment and her community.
"At SC Johnson, we hear all the time about brilliant ideas that moms are putting in place to create a lasting impact on their communities and their families; we want to recognize their efforts to build a better tomorrow," said Kelly Semrau, SC Johnson Vice President, Global Public Affairs and Communication. "As a family company, we are committed to improving our environmental footprint too – and the Ziploc® Brand recycling program in schools is one step that we are taking."
Ziploc® Brand helps families to do their part by encouraging recycling through the Home Storage Brigade Ziploc® collection units located in schools across the country. The Home Storage® Brigade began in May 2010 and encourages students, teachers and families to recycle lightly used Ziploc® Brand Bags and Containers to be repurposed into new plastic-based products. For each bag or container collected, Ziploc® Brand and TerraCycle pay 2 cents to the participating school.
Make-A-Difference-Mom Contest
Beginning Oct. 24 through Dec. 15, 2010, consumers can visit www.TerraCycle.net and explain in 250 words or less how a mom they know embodies the "Make-A-Difference-Mom" description by making a conscious effort to deliver a positive impact on the environment and community in her daily life.
TerraCycle will select four finalists to be featured on the TerraCycle Facebook page, and fans can visit the page to vote for a winner. The voting will take place the first three weeks of January and a winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
The grand prize winner will receive $1,500 to reward herself or her community, a video camera to document her experience and Ziploc® Brand and TerraCycle prize packs.

About TerraCycle
Founded in 2001, TerraCycle (www.terracycle.net ) is the world's leader in the collection and reuse of non-recyclable post-consumer waste. TerraCycle works with over thirty major brands in the U.S. (and in a growing number of other countries) to collect used packaging and products (chip bags, candy wrappers, juice pouches, pens, toothbrushes, etc.) that would otherwise be destined for landfills. It repurposes that waste into new eco-friendly materials and products that are available online and through major retailers. The waste is collected through TerraCycle's Brigade programs, which are free fundraisers that pay schools and non-profits for every piece of waste they collect and return. For information on how to join a TerraCycle Brigade and on purchasing TerraCycle products please visit us at www.terracycle.net.
