Zhaopin Unveils 2017 Top 30 Employers in China
HANGZHOU, China, Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zhaopin Limited ("Zhaopin" or the "Company"), a leading career platform in China focused on connecting users with relevant job opportunities through their career lifecycle, today announced the Top 30 winners of the "China Best Employer Award 2017", with BMW China leading the list.

Winners of the 2017 awards were led by Top 10 employers that included, in order: BMW China, Tencent, China Merchants Bank, Vanke, Netease, the People's Insurance Company (Group) of China, Baidu, SF Express, FAW Group, and BAIC Group. The full ranked list of the Top 30 Employers is set forth below.
Among this year's Top 30 Employers, 40% are public companies. By industry, 30% of the winners are from the IT/telecom/electronics/internet sector, indicating that Artificial Intelligence and digital technology are driving the new employer economy in China.
In evaluating these companies, employees and the public gave top priorities to the employer's culture, salary and welfare, and training opportunities, followed by working environment, organizational structure and employer reputation. The most important evaluation factors were respect for employees, sound welfare and benefits, and salaries that matched workers' contributions to the employer, Zhaopin found.
The annual "China Best Employer Award" was organized by Zhaopin together with Peking University Social Survey Research Center. Launched in 2005, the award has become the most influential and prestigious employer brand event in China. The "Oscar" of the human resources industry in the country, the award is both a valuable reference for job seekers, and an important way for local and international employers to measure themselves against the best in the industry.
This year's winners were selected from more than 17,550 nominated companies, representing an increase of 80% over last year. A record of more than 24.3 million online votes and nominations were conducted by employees and the public, six time more than last year. The award selection was based on professional evaluation by a jury committee and surveys of employees, HR professionals and the public.
In addition to the Top 30 Employers in China, Zhaopin also announced winners for the "Best Employer for Female Employees", "Best Employer for University Students", "Most Socially Responsible Employer", and "Most Aspiring Employer" for 2017.
Caring for Female Workers - "Best Employer for Female Employees"
This year's winners of the "Best Employer for Female Employees" included BP China, BMW China, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN, Vipshop, China Merchants Bank, IBM, HSBC, Microsoft, IKEA, and China Southern Airlines.
The "Best Employer for Female Employees Award" was jointly issued this year by Zhaopin and UN Women, and integrated the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) into the award selection criteria. WEPs are a set of globally recognized principles on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community, jointly developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact.
For award winners, their female employees accounted for 49.3% of total employees, 6.2 percentage higher than the national average. These companies provided more considerate benefits for female employees. The average maternity leave for female employees was 131 days at these companies, compared with 98 days required by the Labor Law in China. Male employees also got 14 days for paternity leave at these companies. 89% of winning companies had special policies to support female employees during pregnancy, child birth and lactation.
Salary is Important for College Graduates - "Best Employer for University Students"
Winners of "Best Employer for University Students" this year included Wanda Group, Fosun, Tencent, Starbucks, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, A.O. Smith, SPD Bank, Netease, China Telecom, and China Unicom.
The ideal employers for college graduates should offer competitive salaries, training opportunities, and equal treatment, Zhaopin found in its survey. 60.9% of college students thought highly of salaries. Their expected monthly salary in 2017 was RMB6,023, an increase of 5% over last year.
Showing Social Responsibility - "Most Socially Responsible Employer"
The "Most Socially Responsible Employer" awards this year went to TCL, Mercedes-Benz, United Overseas Bank, China Guangfa Bank, Zhengzhou Yutong Group, Amway, Poten Environment Group, Neusoft, NARI Group and Cofco, which had demonstrated their responsibilities for employees, environment and society.
Among these winning companies, 76.1% of employees got pay raises in 2017, and the average salary increase was 14.4%. Both were higher than that of other nominated companies. The employee turnover rate was 11.6% at these companies, below the 37.5% rate of other nominated companies.
These companies also invested more in training for employees. Their spending on training in 2017 accounted for 1.3% of total revenues, higher than the 0.6% by other companies. 63% of employees in these companies participated in training, compared with 58% for other companies.
