YuMe Launches New Triple Play Video Ad Placement
Serves 2.5 Billion In-Stream Video Ads in Q4 2009
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- YuMe, the video advertising technology company, announced today the launch of a new video ad placement called Triple Play. Triple Play is a pre–roll video ad enhanced with an interactive menu that provides additional options for viewers to engage with a brand. Triple Play is unique in that it lets viewers decide how they want to interact and engage with the advertiser. For the launch of Triple Play, YuMe partnered with Horizon Interactive and their client Livescribe to promote the award-winning Pulse smartpen.
The Triple Play interactive menu is presented after the pre-roll runs and features up to three call-to-actions with which the viewer can interact. For example, the viewer can be presented with the opportunity to watch additional videos, learn more about a product, sign-up for promotional offers, or even visit a brand's Facebook fan page.
YuMe is focused exclusively on premium in-stream video advertising – integrating ads into the video player where viewers focus their attention, as opposed to placing video in banner ads. On average, YuMe's custom video ad placements see a click-through rate of 1.6%, which far exceeds the performance seen for in-banner video ads. YuMe served an average of 30 million in-stream video ads per day in December 2009 and over 2.5 billion in-stream ads in Q4 2009, its strongest quarter yet.
"We are excited to be the launch partner for YuMe's new Triple Play video ad unit," said Eric Petitt, Senior Director of Marketing of Livescribe. "YuMe's Triple Play unit combines the sight, sound and motion of video advertising with the interactivity of social media, giving consumers more ways to interact with our brand than with a traditional pre-roll."

YuMe delivered on a number of advertiser-focused milestones in 2009. It introduced new ad products InSynch Video Takeover and PowerRoll DataConnect to the market, unveiled an iGRP audience measurement metric, and launched a monthly video ad metrics report, providing key industry insights based on the 100+ campaigns YuMe has running on any given day. Additionally, YuMe became the first video advertising technology company to support dynamic ad insertion into live video. YuMe continues to deliver upon its promise to target, measure and optimize video ads across all platforms and devices.
"YuMe has always been aggressive about introducing new video advertising solutions, building an ecosystem with the best partners, and delivering unparalleled reach, scale and quality," said YuMe CEO Michael Mathieu. "Despite the broader economic downturn, 2009 was a big year for YuMe in which we were able to grow as a business and continue to drive the video advertising industry forward."
