NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Yumble announced it has closed Series A funding led by Sonoma Brands, along with Danone Manifesto Ventures (the New York-based venture arm of Danone), Wharton Professor Martin Lautman, RiverPark Ventures, Launch Capital, and Apple Core filling the deck. To date, the skyrocketing home-delivery kids' food brand has raised $8.5MM. By shipping kid-friendly lunches, dinners, and snacks straight to homes each week, Yumble takes stress off parents' plates and gives them back time in their day.
After facing the challenge of getting real food on the table for her three kids every day, founder Joanna Parker knew what had to change. Yumble is on a mission to help parents shape positive, healthy children's eating habits – no cooking required! Yumble's ethos is to produce and deliver only the best: Sourcing is seasonal, local, and organic whenever possible, and meals include a wide variety of nutrient-dense vegetables, grains, proteins, fats, herbs, and spices that support developing minds and bodies.
"As a mom, I know we're solving a truly painful problem for parents: wanting to put healthy and tasty food in front of our kids but having no time to actually do it," said Joanna Parker. "So, it's no surprise to me that parents are finding value in our service. What's surprised me so far is how big of an impact we've had in just one year and with only a team of seven people! It's exciting to imagine what we'll be able to accomplish with these new resources and partners."
With this round of funding, Yumble will invest in marketing and continue to build out a world-class team to execute against its vision of building the leading healthy kids' meal company in the country. National expansion and investment in product development and product line expansion are also on the near horizon.
"Since launching, we've experienced overwhelming growth – more than 30% month-over-month during the first year. Our new investors will help us capitalize on this initial success in a big way," said Joanna's husband, Yumble cofounder and CEO David Parker. "With a team of proven entrepreneurs, Sonoma Brands has a proven ability in building and investing in world-class brands, and Danone Manifesto Ventures' expertise, resources and passion for creating a new generation of better-for-you food brands will be tremendous assets as we scale to help more parents serve healthy food to their children."
"After looking extensively in the category, we were immediately struck by the traction Yumble had made in less than one year of operating," said Sonoma Brands Principal Brian Nicholson. "Their offering is clearly resonating with consumers in a big way and we're thrilled to support the Yumble team and bring to bear our experience partnering with leading digital and food & beverage brands." Jon Sebastiani, Founder and CEO of Sonoma Brands added "Innovation around food is core to who we are at Sonoma Brands. Yumble has an incredible opportunity to bring better tasting and better-for-you meals to families across the country and that is a mission we're proud to join."
Laurent Marcel, Managing Director of Danone Manifesto Ventures, commented, "Since we started our venture activity two years ago, we have looked at many opportunities around childhood nutrition and are excited by the disruption Yumble brings sitting at the intersection of an emerging direct to consumer channel, offering fresh, healthy meals that kids love with a relatable brand for millennial parents. Through this investment, Danone will further our commitment to contribute to improving children's dietary habits by leveraging our expertise, helping Yumble drive access to nutritious, quality offerings for kids."
David Parker explained further, "To win this space, Yumble is building a world-class team. Our third co-founder was formerly the COO of HelloFresh USA; our Head of Marketing led Digital Marketing, CRM, and Retention efforts at Freshly; and our Head of R&D was formerly the Head of R&D at GreenChef. We will continue to invest in a top-notch team, develop the best prepared kids' food in the market, and take Yumble national with this new capital."
Yumble NEVER serves ingredients like high fructose corn syrup; artificial preservatives, sweeteners, or colors; hydrogenated fats; MSG; horomone or antibiotic filled meats; or peanuts or nuts of any kind (except coconut).
