Yellow Was The New Orange This Past Weekend, As Lemonhead Fans Everywhere Celebrated #Yelloween
Once the "orangest" day of the year, Halloween 2014 finally welcomed other colors into its celebration.
FOREST PARK, Ill., Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Over the past several weeks, the Ferrara Candy Company reimagined Halloween 2014, painting the holiday yellow in honor of its iconic Lemonhead brand and getting behind a new celebration dubbed "Yelloween." Designed to celebrate Lemonhead, one of the most sought-after trick-or-treat candies year-over-year, Ferrara asked fans to put a new, sunny twist on their typical Halloween celebrations. The result? Lemonhead yellow pumpkins sitting on front porches alongside traditional orange jack-o-lanterns and the greenish-blue pumpkins of another of this year's Halloween trends from "The Teal Pumpkin Project," which alerted kids to allergy-safe, non-food, trick-or-treat houses.
Forest Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago and home to the Ferrara Company Factory since 1908, welcomed Yelloween with open arms. At one home, neighborhood kids gathered together to honor the new tradition as they painted each of their pumpkins yellow and received Lemonhead candy to round out their trick-or-treat stash. Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest posts over the past two weeks attested to the trend, with families pledging to paint yellow pumpkins and hand out Lemonhead candy to all the trick-or-treaters at their homes. A custom-created Pinterest, page available at www.pinterest.com/lemonheadcandy/yelloweeen/ was full of creative ideas around the color yellow, featuring everything from how to carve actual lemons instead of pumpkins to suggestions for how to appeal to adults on Halloween with a recipe for delicious Lemonhead martinis.
"Yellow is the new orange was a campaign we created encouraging fans to embrace Lemonhead yellow in a whole new, fun way," said Dawn Sykora, Director of Marketing, Iconic Brands for Ferrara Candy Company. "This year has been all about Lemonhead, starting with a complete rebranding that included an updated logo and packaging along with new product formulations, and Yelloween was a natural way for us to continue the momentum."
Lemonhead is the iconic sweet and sour candy brand known and loved since it first starting tantalizing taste buds in 1962. All Lemonhead candies feature the same Pucker Power® of the original hard candy, as well as some of the sassiest flavors ever including Apple, Cherry, Grape, Orange and of course, Lemon.
