Wyle Colorado Office Selected as American Legion Award Winner
Colorado Springs Office Honored with Medium Employer of Veterans Award
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyle's facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. has been recognized as the recipient of the National American Legion's Medium Employer of Veterans award.
This award recognizes companies across the country that established outstanding records in the employment and retention of veterans. Wyle was nominated by American Legion Centennial Post 209, located in Colorado Springs, as the Colorado Medium Employer of Veterans for its dedication to hiring veterans.
"Wyle recognizes and understands the many benefits of hiring veterans," said Bill Laramore, a vice president in Wyle's CAS Group. "We are focused on supporting the military and the men and women who truly understand selfless service, who are humble, and who don't think less of themselves, but who think of themselves less."
Earlier in the year, Wyle was selected as the Medium Employer of Veterans at the state level which made them eligible for the national award. It received the award at the National Convention in Houston in August.
In Colorado, Wyle is an active supporter of the Transition Assistance Programs among the four major military bases in the Colorado Springs area; has been an active participant at many veteran focused job fairs including those sponsored by the American Legion's Department of Colorado; and supports a wide range of veteran-based community activities through the Wyle employee-funded CAS Cares charity activity, including the Crawford House, a treatment center and safe haven for Homeless Veterans with substance abuse problems.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest wartime veterans' service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to service members and veterans. The American Legion's National Economic Commission expanded its Employer Awards Program in 1969 when it created an award category for employers of veterans.
