SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV announced today that it will introduce the first-ever over-the-air broadcast network designed for African Americans. Bounce TV will premier on ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV this fall. The agreement was announced by the E.W. Scripps Television Station Group, owners of WXYZ-TV.

WXYZ serves more than 1.9 million homes in nine counties in the Detroit television market. With the addition of WXYZ, Bounce TV will now reach 75% of African American homes and nearly 55% of total homes in the United States. Bounce TV was launched recently in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles and Baltimore and is also available in Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston, Washington D.C., Cleveland/Akron, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Hartford/New Haven, Norfolk, Dayton, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Memphis, Louisville and Richmond, Virginia.
Bounce TV targets African Americans, primarily between the ages of 25-54 with a programming mix of theatrical motions pictures, live sports, documentaries, specials, inspirational faith-based programs, off-net series and original series. The Bounce TV schedule also includes sports programming including football and basketball games from the nation's largest African American athletic conference, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
