SÃO PAULO, Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Wunderman, a leading global digital agency and a part of WPP, today announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Pmweb Comunicação Ltda., a leading digital marketing specialist in Brazil. The deal furthers Wunderman's commitment to developing and expanding digital skills and capabilities in high-growth markets within Latin America, while specifically strengthening the agency's leadership in Brazil. Under the leadership of CEO Tárik Potthoff, Pmweb will continue to operate independently as part of the Wunderman network.
Managing a database of 200 million consumers, Pmweb is Brazil's leading cross-channel campaign management and optimization company. With headquarters in São Paulo and Porto Alegre, the company's wide range of services complement Wunderman's focus on developing personalized marketing communications at scale. Through this deal, Pmweb will strengthen Wunderman's ability to monitor digital campaigns across multiple screens and devices on behalf of its clients, allowing them to update messages in real time in order to optimize their effectiveness.
"We are confident that the addition of Pmweb to our network will give us a significant advantage within the actual consumer journey," said Eduardo Bicudo, CEO Wunderman Brazil. "Together, we will intensify our retail operations during a time of transformation for the market, with an increasing focus on precision, personalization and results," adds Bicudo, who will now lead over 500 employees in the combined operations of Wunderman and Pmweb in Brazil.
For Tárik Potthoff, Pmweb's CEO, the merger with Wunderman will allow the company to expand their focus into all stages of the marketing funnel. "Our combined services will allow us to develop and maintain personalized relationships with consumers by sharing relevant messages on their preferred digital platforms and channels," Potthoff said. "This will increase our returns on media investment, boost conversion rates and improve our relationships with clients overall."
Mark Read, Global CEO of Wunderman added, "The acquisition of Pmweb further strengthens our data-driven marketing capabilities in the important Latin American market and builds on the acquisitions that Wunderman has made in 2016 in Europe and North America to give us a unique global platform for clients."
Responsible for managing the operations of leading companies within the e-commerce, retail and hospitality industries, Pmweb collects, processes and activates millions of data points from both brick-and-mortar and virtual stores, including web browsing and customer loyalty. The company also uses proprietary technology to make mass communication highly personalized and automated.
