WTP Advisors Sponsors Sterling Farms Men's Club 2011 Leaderboard
STAMFORD, Conn., March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- WTP Advisors, an award-winning global tax and business advisory firm, will once again sponsor the Leaderboard/Player of the Year for the Sterling Farms Men's Club (SFMC) annual golf competition. The yearly competition is open to golfers of all ability levels and twenty of the top point earners will be announced at the end of the season.
The Sterling Farms Men's Club is the area's 400-member strong, non-profit golf organization that is meant to foster camaraderie and competition for local golfers. The club runs out of the Sterling Farms Golf Course, a municipal golf course owned by the city of Stamford and which has been recognized as the best golf course in Fairfield County. Most SFMC members are located in Stamford, but the club also attracts members from New Jersey and New York.
WTP Advisors' sponsorship of the Leaderboard has been, and will be, a vital element to the club's overall health, according to current SFMC President, Marc Schultz.
"Our responsibility as a global business with many employees who live in Stamford, is to give back to the town and enhance the amenities it has to offer," says Ian Boccaccio, co-founder and Partner of WTP Advisors, and Stamford resident.
Additionally, WTP Advisors provide services to Fortune 100 organizations, many of which are headquartered in lower Fairfield and Westchester Counties.
"We're doing a lot to help the largest companies in the world, giving them a viable alternative to the Big Four accounting firms. We improve shareholder value by optimizing business and tax services. We pride ourselves on our close relationship with clients, and this is just one example of our dedication to those of them who live and work in the Tri-state area," says Boccaccio.
Schultz, who is also the 2010 Leaderboard winner, believes that the club plays an important social role, especially for newcomers to the area.
"Stamford's diverse employers bring residents from all over the world, and the SFMC helps people connect and become more entrenched in the community in an enjoyable and beautiful setting. It's our goal to add more and more members from the community who are looking for an exciting and challenging way to spend their weekends in the summer," says Schultz.
According to Schultz, the club is hoping to grow its existing membership this year by adding more events to the schedule, and by banking on last year's unprecedented success.
"Last year's Leaderboard was a tremendous accomplishment. Everyone at the club, both members and non-members alike, followed the Leaderboard, which spurred a competitive spirit amongst all players. The feedback was overwhelming and people really enjoyed tracking the standings each week," says Schultz.
The yearly SFMC Leaderboard runs with every handicap season (April thru October). Recognizing the top players of the year, the Leaderboard upholds the idea that rather than having a single event in which a player wins or loses, it's one's participation throughout the year that counts.
"My long-term dream for the SFMC is to be the premier men's golf club that people flock to join. It should and could be the club that offers the best prizes, best food, best events and simply the best overall experience; all we need is continued support from corporate sponsors to help fund it," says Boccaccio.
The Sterling Farms Men's Club season, as well as the official start of the CT and NY handicap season begins on Friday April 1st. Golfers can sign up for the 2011 season by going to http://www.sfmensclub.com/membership_signup_2011.html.
