DEARBORN, Mich., April 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WPP's Team Detroit has won the Webby People's Voice Awards best in Auto and Auto Services advertising and media for their Mustang Customizer, developed for client Ford Motor Company.
Team Detroit beat out four competitors and won 34 percent of the votes in order to take home what The New York Times considers the "internet's highest honor." The Mustang Customizer made it to the final four of the People's Voice Awards after being nominated along with over 13,000 other entries earlier this month.
"Winning a Webby and being recognized by the public is a testament to what we do here," said Stuart O'Neil, a Team Detroit Executive Creative Director. "It's always our goal to create breakthrough, compelling work. Mustang Customizer is a product of that philosophy."
For the first time in Mustang history, the Customizer allows users to virtually customize and design their dream cars with 3 million combinations of models, parts, colors and decals. These innovative tools and engaging platform have resulted in over 7 million customized Mustangs created and shared through social media to date.
The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the internet. The panel which nominates and selects Webby winners is comprised of industry experts, including Tumblr founder, David Karp; Executive Creative Director at Refinery29, Piera Gelardi; Musicians, Questlove & Grimes; Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen; Twitter Co-Founder, Biz Stone; creator of the .gif file format, Steve Wilhite; and Jimmy Kimmel.
