World-Famous Woolworth Building Makes Rare Announcement
Limited Space Available for Lease
NEW YORK, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Rubin Schron, founder of Cammeby's International Group, a commercial and residential developer and owner, recently made an announcement that has stirred up a flurry of interest among prospective office space tenants in Manhattan. The Woolworth Building, a National Historic Landmark in the heart of New York City's Financial District, has limited office space available for lease.
One of the oldest and most famous skyscrapers in the world, the 57-story Woolworth Building at 233 Broadway, between Park Place and Barclay Street has long been a much-desired address for Manhattan's business elite, but for many years has maintained a 100 percent occupancy rate.
Cammeby's has launched a "small space" program on the 20th floor of the building, developing units of 2,000 to 8,000 square feet. The units are slated for occupancy in the fall of 2010 and feature offices with high ceilings and unbeatable city views. The Woolworth Building offers an ornate, cruciform lobby featuring a three story vaulted mosaic ceiling, imported marble walls, bronze elevator entries and sculpted caricatures of Woolworth and others, and is considered the most elegant lobby in the world.
Conceived by dimestore magnate Frank W. Woolworth as the headquarters of the F.W. Woolworth Co., the Woolworth Building was designed by architect Cass Gilbert in neo-gothic style and engineered by Gunvald Aus. At a height of approximately 792 feet, the building was the tallest in the world when it was built in 1913 and remains one of the 50 tallest in the United States, as well as one of the 20 tallest in New York City.
The "Cathedral of Commerce" features a pyramidal copper cap with Gothic details that has made it a beloved feature of the New York City skyline.
"The Woolworth Building is one of the greatest buildings in the world, and it's an incredibly sought after address," said Rubin Schron, founder of Cammeby's International Group. "Since introducing the units to the market, we've received an enormous amount of feedback, and we expect to be sold out within the next 45 to 60 days."
Leases are currently pending for 12,000 of the approximately 28,000 square feet available, and Cammeby's has experienced an overwhelming amount of interest in the remaining space.
The Woolworth Building is a landmark of New York's Financial District. Located at the southernmost tip of Manhattan, the Financial District is home to the some of the world's major financial institutions, including the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Also located in the Financial District is the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, which was also designed by Cass Gilbert and built by the federal government to house the duty collection operations for the port of New York.
