Winnie Launches First Comprehensive Search Engine for Daycares and Preschools

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Winnie, a startup that builds technology for parents, announced today that it has launched winnie.com/childcare, a comprehensive, searchable and free directory of all daycares and preschools in the San Francisco Bay Area. Listings include detailed descriptions, photos, tuition, availability data and reviews from parents whose children have attended the daycare or preschool.

Winnie was founded in 2016 by tech veterans Sara Mauskopf and Anne K. Halsall to make parents' lives easier through technology. Its apps for iOS, Android and web help parents connect, get advice and ideas, and discover great things to do locally with their children.

Winnie's new child care search engine helps parents discover all the child care options available to them, including the difficult to discover in-home providers who often don't maintain a website. "Tech-savvy providers who maintain an online presence charge almost twice as much as the ones who don't. They are also more likely to be fully enrolled and have long wait lists," explained Winnie co-founder and CEO Sara Mauskopf. "The typical millennial parent is searching Google to find daycares, and finding only the most expensive ones. This creates the false impression that there is less child care than there really is, and it's more expensive than it needs to be."

Winnie has over 5,000 daycare & preschool providers on its platform in San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties and will be expanding to other regions in the near future.
