Wilson Sporting Goods Pioneers First Online Experience Where Every Tennis Player Can Design Their Very Own Performance Tennis Racket
Wilson Custom Racket Shop Offers Millions of Personalization and Self-Expression Possibilities to Athletes
CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sporting Goods Co. announced today the launch of the Wilson Custom Racket Shop (www.wilson.com/customrackets), an online experience that allows every tennis player to design a Wilson performance tennis racket to their personal specifications. This platform is the first of its kind in the tennis industry and was created by Wilson LABS, the innovation hub at Wilson, as a result of athlete feedback that they crave ways to better express their personalities and individuality on court.
Wilson Advisory Staff Member and ATP ranked #11 Grigor Dimitrov is the first Tour player to utilize the Wilson Custom Racket Shop and is now playing with the Pro Staff racket he designed through this experience.
"It's an honor to be the first player to design a custom racket on this platform as it's always been a dream of mine and that day has arrived," said Grigor Dimitrov. "This has never been done before and everyone is going to be wowed by this experience. What I love most is that you don't have to compromise performance to get all the benefits of designing your own racket - your own piece of art, your own statement piece - exactly the way you want."
"We share our players' point of view that their racket is an extension of who they are not only as athletes, but, more importantly, as individuals," said Hans-Martin Reh, General Manager, Racquet Sports. "We built this dynamic and completely new customization experience to put the player in control of how their racket looks and feels, so their equipment expresses who they are on court. This is an exciting next step for our brand as we look for more ways we can fuse best-in-class performance with design and really push tennis equipment into even more compelling and highly personalized areas."
When on the Wilson Custom Racket Shop players can select a 2017 Wilson Pro Staff, Blade or Burn model that best fits their style of play. Athletes then customize their racket by selecting from a wide variety of options, including different finishes, frame colors, color options for the three and nine o'clock positions on the racket, and multiple options for decals, grommets, bumpers, logos, model names, metal letterings and grips.
Players can also select Grigor Dimitrov's exclusive racket graphics. Additionally, athletes can add a unique message or name to personalize their final masterpiece.
The Wilson Custom Racket Shop offers a socially-sharable user experience on a mobile-friendly website, allowing every racket creator to share their "custom masterpiece" with family, friends, teammates, and coaches through email and on social media channels.
Wilson is the first brand to offer custom rackets directly to players in this way. The launch of the Wilson Custom Racket Shop is an extension of the brand's new performance design DNA and recent Limited Edition Blade and Burn racket launches, where design and performance have been combined to create a completely new look and feel for tennis rackets.
Pricing for Wilson Custom Rackets start at $249.99 (US). To experience Wilson Tennis' new Custom Racket Shop visit www.wilson.com/customrackets.
Note: Pros often customize the racket they use. Racket specifications on endorsed consumer models may vary from the models used by pros for match-play.
