What's New in the Emerging Field of Waste-to-Energy? Deltaway Energy Founder Surveys the Landscape
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Francois Screve, founder of Deltaway Energy International, Inc., has co-authored a comprehensive resource for waste-to-energy (WTE) field professionals and clients. The book, Waste-to-Energy, Second Edition: Technologies and Project Implementation, co-authored by Marc Rogoff, PhD, SCS Engineers-Tampa Project Director, is a significant revision of the original edition, published in 1987. Like the original, this edition is published by the science and technology division of international publisher Elsevier.
"There's never been a more urgent time to understand WTE," says Screve. "We live in a global environment increasingly focused on more efficient use of resources, reducing landfill volumes, and generating energy in environmentally friendly ways."
The textbook, available in both clothbound and downloadable Kindle versions, covers the rapidly changing technologies, updates from European and U.S. regulatory agencies, and new management practices.
"We believe it is critical to share information as our still-evolving industry looks for new ways optimize performance and reduce the cost of operations," says Screve. "That prompted the new edition of this book, and it informs the way we use our website (www.deltawayenergy.com) to talk about best practices and outstanding outcomes."
Included in Deltaway's website are ongoing highlights of how to address industry changes. "We call this our 'Top 5,'" says Screve, "and we use them as opportunities for continuous improvement in the field." Included in the Top 5 are investing in experts, using design innovations to keep costs low and results high, making the most of new entrepreneurial players in the field, paying attention to emerging strengths in China, and using a rigorous approach to financing WTE projects with better forecasts and lower financing costs and risks.
Screve, who has both on-the-ground and executive experience in WTE, founded Deltaway Energy in 2003. A 29-year veteran of the municipal WTE plant design and operations field, Screve has also logged experience in global settings in Europe, the United States, and Asia. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Arts et Metiers, and an MBA from INSA Lille. His experience ranges from large-scale plant design and management and multiple facility supervision to executive leadership as vice president for Veolia Environment.
