PORTSMOUTH, N.H., May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today marks National Baby Day, a day that's all about the little ones in our lives – and nothing is more delicate than their skin, which is much more sensitive than adult skin. With WaterWipes, the "World's Purest Baby Wipes," parents can feel skincare peace of mind. Winner of the 2017 Family Choice Awards, WaterWipes are now available throughout the U.S. and are the only wipes made with just two ingredients – 99.9 percent water and 0.1 percent grapefruit seed extract.
WaterWipes was founded by a concerned dad, Edward McCloskey, now Chief Executive Officer of WaterWipes, who was looking for a better, chemical free solution for his daughter's diaper rash. After five years of research, he developed a breakthrough technology and patented water treatment process. The result is a softer wipe with just two ingredients, that is more convenient than applying water with a washcloth. The wipes are manufactured in a cleanroom environment in a pharmaceutical-grade certified facility and produced in a sterile package. As one of the most well-known and loved baby wipe brands in Ireland and the U.K., WaterWipes now brings that same pure promise to the U.S. with availability in retailers nationwide.
Twenty-five percent of children get diaper dermatitis, and infants are more susceptible because their skin is less developed – making the choice of baby wipes important for their health and comfort.[i] WaterWipes are hypoallergenic, non-irritating to the skin, and may help prevent the cause of diaper rash.
"We know parenting is stressful, especially for first time moms and dads and there's a pressure to know what baby products to use and how to keep their baby safe," said Christophe Bernigaud, Vice President of WaterWipes Americas. "Many baby products claim to be made with pure and natural ingredients, but parents should read the labels and know what they are putting on their baby. With WaterWipes, there is one less thing to worry about because they know exactly what is going on their baby's delicate skin."
WaterWipes Pure Parenting Pulse Survey
Leading up to National Baby Day, WaterWipes surveyed more than 1,000 millennial parents[ii] with children in the household ages 3 and under to uncover expectations around being a parent and what they expect from their baby products. It turns out it's not just what's in a wipe that's important – but what's left out. The study found:
Less is more
- More than half of millennial parents (63 percent) are concerned when they see more than two ingredients in a baby wipe product
- A total of 95 percent of millennial parents said baby wipe products should contain 5 or less ingredients
If You Can't Say It
- An overwhelming majority of millennial parents (81 percent) said if their baby wipe has ingredients they can't pronounce or don't know what they are, they would feel motivated to look for an alternative baby wipe that was more natural
Great Expectations
Although new parents may feel like they don't have all the answers, WaterWipes encourages them to trust their instincts and give credit where credit is due. The survey found:
- Only a quarter of millennial parents (25 percent) said that their experience of having a first baby was "very similar" to what they expected; an additional 39 percent felt it was "somewhat similar to" what they expected
- One in four (25 percent) millennial parents believed diaper-changing activities caused the most "self-doubt"
- A total of 41 percent of millennial parents said they taught themselves to change a baby's diaper and clean their baby's bottom
WaterWipes are available in retailers nationwide including Amazon.com, Walmart, Target, buybuy BABY, Babies 'R Us, Walgreens and more.
Survey Methodology
This United States survey was conducted online by WaterWipes from March 29 through April 3, 2017 among 1,016 respondents, millennial parents with children in the household of 3 years old and under.
