Water Cooler Group Divisions Join Forces For #HonorWithAction Campaign For Newtown
Creates Social Media Call to Action for Communities Across the Nation: "We Are Newtown"
NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Water Cooler Group, a brand media communications company, today announced it has partnered with the Newtown Action Alliance (NAA) to draw awareness via a media and creative campaign to remember the victims of the tragic school shooting that took place one year ago on December 14 in Newtown, Connecticut.
Working with the Newtown Action Alliance since this past spring, Media Storm – the media buying and management division of Water Cooler Group – has managed a pro bono media buying campaign focused on print, digital and outdoor advertising. To date, the agency's efforts have resulted in nearly 11 million impressions across various media partners, including AOL, Break.com, Taxi Cab TVs, TV Guide and more. And now Water Cooler Group's full service creative division, MAUDE, has created the concept #HonorWithAction – a social media call to action for Facebook users to change their hometown setting to Newtown and also to post an image with the tagline that reads "We are Newtown." This image is available via the Newtown Action Alliance Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/NewtownActionAlliance.
"What happened in Newtown can happen in any community, and it does," said Dave Ackert, Chairman of Newtown Action Alliance and Newtown Foundation. "More than 30,000 American lives have been lost to an act of gun violence since the Sandy Hook School tragedy. This 'We Are Newtown' Facebook initiative is a simple way for the nation to come together to honor those that have been lost with a simple act of solidarity and to demonstrate our collective resolve to ensure that they did not die in vain."
"The #HonorWithAction campaign is important for communities across the country," said Antony Young, president of Water Cooler Group. "Whether you live near Newtown like we do or you live across the country, we are asking for a time of reflection in order to bring communities closer together, and the number of media partners that have come forward to donate exposure to bring awareness is great, and we are more than happy to be a part of this project."
The media buys that coordinate with the #HonorWithAction campaign are set to begin running on Sunday, December 8, and placements are planned to continue until December 15, the day after the anniversary. Water Cooler Group's social media division, HIP Genius, also consulted on social media strategy for the campaign.
Also this week, The Newtown Foundation and Washington National Cathedral will host a vigil service of mourning and loving remembrance on Thursday, December 12 from 3:45-5pm ET at the Washington National Cathedral for all who have fallen victim to the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in America. More information on the vigil can be found at www.rally.org/vigil.
