Ward Robinson and The Uprising Creative Launch Animals Magazine - "The Only Outlaw Men's Magazine" - Set to Drop First Issue and Host LA Launch Party on Nov. 21
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LA-based fashion, music and lifestyle photographer Ward Robinson and the award-winning integrated creative + production company The Uprising Creative are set to launch the inaugural issue of Animals Magazine (http://animalsmag.com). The biannual, photo-heavy men's magazine - positioned as "The Only Outlaw Men's Magazine" - goes directly for the throat, with no apologies.
In addition to online distribution through its website, Animals will initially appear in approximately 100 locations internationally, including cross-cultural boutiques, collector shoe shops, high-end marijuana dispensaries, cafes and many more.
"Along with the talented team at The Uprising Creative and a long list of phenomenal contributors, we are unleashing stories that have been hidden away in the heart of California's outlaw culture," began Robinson, founder and editor-in-chief for Animals. "This magazine connects with the most raw and compelling people, and tells their tales without pulling any punches. By design, we are colorful, aggressive, and curious to a fault. We are Animals."
A longstanding contributor to numerous high-profile publications, Robinson has been an editor for the lifestyle and culture magazine Western Civ for the past four years. Other talents behind Animals include managing editor JC Gabel, editor-at-large Jess Hundley, arts editor Mark Grotjahn, music editor Chris Ziegler, future/tech editor Todd Krieger, and acclaimed Uprising director Darren Craig under the editor heading of "We Aren't Sure."
"This really started as a passion project for all of us" said Jeff Nicholas, co-founder and president of The Uprising Creative. "We just weren't seeing anything out there that was speaking to us or our wide spectrum of interests. So we decided to put together our own collection of stories and it grew from there. Once we started talking to people about it, we realized that we weren't the only ones; there are all of these amazing stories that either haven't been told, or that our contributors are able to tell from a completely different perspective, and people really wanted to both tell them and read them. So the mag was born."
The first issue of Animals is available now for discounted pre-order at http://animalsmag.com. It hits the streets on Nov. 21 with an all-star contributor list, including Isabelle Kohn, Dave Reeves, Todd Krieger, Scott Leon, Andrew Kuykendall, Olivia Jaffe, Barak Hardley, Todd Weaver, Brook Power, Steven Perilloux, Matt Nosbusch and Trace Marshall. Spanning 160 pages, its exclusive contents include the feature stories "Malibu Surf Gangs in Point Dume," "The Dirty Birth of Bitcoin," "The Chosen Few Outlaw Motorcycle Club from Watts," and many others, with design and layout by the creative team at Uprising.
The official Animals Magazine launch party is also set for Nov. 21 at Restless Studios in Los Angeles. It will run "from 7pm until we die," and anyone who pre-orders the magazine online can not only pickup their copy in person, but will also drink for free all night as a "Thank You." Alternately, RSVPs are being accepted by email at [email protected], or on Facebook: https://facebook.com/events/134740746884688/
