On Thursday, November 20, 2014, individuals in Victory Living Programs' Adult Day Training Program will cook a Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings for board members, volunteers, family members and other clients. The meal is held in tandem with Victory Living Programs' Annual Membership Meeting.
"Individuals in our Adult Day Training Program prepare the whole thing – turkey, stuffing, pies and everything else that goes into a Thanksgiving Day meal," said Bobbi Wigand, Executive Director of Victory Living Programs. "It's a great time for the board members and members to meet the individuals in our program and spend a few hours together."
Providing the fresh fruits and vegetables for the day's meal – including the beans, sweet potatoes and the apples that will be used in the apple pies – will be Freshpoint, North America's largest fresh produce distributor, which has offices in Pompano Beach. Freshpoint also contributes fresh fruits and vegetables year-round to Victory Living Programs, enabling the organizations clients to make healthy food choices every day of the week.
"As always, Freshpoint is happy to support Victory Living this holiday season, as well as throughout the year," said Alan Lieberman, President of Freshpoint. "Victory Living does so many great things to help the citizens of the community, so it's always a pleasure to help them in any way we can."
In addition to giving back, Victory Living's clients get a chance to learn valuable skills that will help serve them and their community for years to come by preparing the meal. Food preparation is a huge part of living independently, and Victory Living Programs strives to make each one of its clients as independent as possible. In addition to needing less assistance from society, independent individuals are also in a position to give back – another value Victory Living Programs teaches its clients.
