VH1 Names Caralene Robinson Senior Vice President, Creative Group And Consumer Marketing
Appointment Comes After a Year of 33% Increase in VH1's Primetime Ratings
NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 (a unit of Viacom Inc. NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) has named Caralene Robinson Senior Vice President, Creative Group and Consumer Marketing, it was announced today by Tom Calderone, President, VH1.
Based in New York, Robinson will be responsible for the face of VH1 each time the network interacts with consumers through all off-channel branding efforts. She will oversee all consumer outreach which includes the channel's music marketing, VH1 Digital marketing and on-air image/promo teams as well as all consumer and trade advertising that VH1 creates and places.
Robinson brings to VH1 extensive, award-winning experience as an executive leader and consumer marketing expert for a diverse array of telecommunications and packaged goods including Colgate-Palmolive, The Coca-Cola Company, Cox Enterprises and Sprint Nextel Corporation, including Virgin Mobile.
Most recently, Robinson was Vice President, Brand Strategy and Marketing Communications at Sprint Nextel, where she led all marketing efforts including brand, integrated marketing, production, creative services and social media for all Sprint brands. While at Sprint her biggest success was the re-launch of Boost Mobile, which drove significant brand awareness and subscriber growth. She is also responsible for breakthrough advertising across the brand portfolio.

Robinson arrives as the brand starts the year on a high note. VH1's primetime ratings in 2012 increased 33% in the adult 18-49 demo while total primetime viewership increased by 14%. This month, VH1 launches a new night of humor-based programming on Friday nights with the return of beloved pop culture commentary franchise "Best Week Ever" and the February 8 debut of "The Jenny McCarthy Show." In addition, new seasons of hit series "Mob Wives" and "Love & Hip Hop New York" bowed in January as well as brand new series "Black Ink" and "Making Mr. Right."
Robinson is also executive producer of the 2012 documentary "Versailles '73: American Runway Revolution." She has an MBA in marketing and finance from New York University's Stern School of Business and a BBA in marketing from Howard University.
