Veteran Child Welfare Leader Moves to Casey Family Programs Executive Team

SEATTLE, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Casey Family Programs announced the appointment of veteran child welfare leader Marva Hammons as executive vice president for Child and Family Services.

In her new role, Hammons will lead the national operating foundation's efforts to provide safe, loving and permanent homes for the children and families that the foundation serves directly through the nine child welfare offices it operates in California, Texas, Washington, Arizona and Idaho.

Hammons joined Casey Family Programs in 2007 as its first managing director of Strategic Consulting, where she helped lead the foundation's partnerships with state and local child welfare jurisdictions to improve outcomes for children and families.

Hammons has more than 30 years of experience in the field of child welfare. During her career, she has served as executive director of the Colorado Department of Human Services. She also served as Michigan's executive director of the Family Independence Agency, where she was responsible for developing policies for the state's human services system. Hammons was commissioner of New York City's Human Resources Administration during Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's first term. She also served as manager of the Denver Department of Human Services.

Hammons replaces David Berns, who recently retired after a distinguished career serving children and families at Casey Family Programs and several public child welfare agencies.
