Vernier Partners with NSELA to Award Six Science Educators with 'Emerging Science Education Leader Scholarships'
Educators are encouraged to apply by April 21, 2017 for opportunity to receive $500 scholarship to attend NSELA Summer Leadership Institute
BEAVERTON, Ore., April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vernier Software & Technology is partnering with the National Science Education Leadership Association (NSELA) to award six educators with a Vernier Emerging Science Education Leader Scholarship (VESELS). The winning educators, one from each of the NSELA regions, will receive a $500 scholarship to be used toward attending the annual NSELA Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) on June 28, 2017 – July 1, 2017 in Omaha, NE.
"NSELA helps develop and support science education leadership and is a true advocate for effective science teaching and learning practices in today's schools," said Gary Myers, Director of District Outreach at Vernier Software & Technology. All applicants must hold an emerging leader role at the school, district, state, or informal level for three years or less to qualify for the scholarship. To apply, educators must submit a resume or vita, a personal letter with evidence illustrating emerging leadership, and a support letter from a supervisor. All applicants must also agree to work with an NSELA mentor and communicate to others in the organization throughout the year about how they are applying what they learned at the SLI. All applications are due April 21, 2017 and scholarship awardees will be announced by May 12, 2017.
