Verizon Wireless Announces its Newest Destination Store on Chicago's Michigan Avenue
First shopper set to be Academy and GRAMMY Award winning artist Jennifer Hudson
CHICAGO, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless today announced its newest Destination Store will open on Chicago's Magnificent Mile on Nov. 15 (840 N. Michigan Avenue). Offering approximately 10,000 square-feet of shopping, it will be the company's largest store in the country featuring the latest in wireless devices and accessories running on Verizon's 4G LTE network.
Spanning two stories, Verizon's Destination Store will spotlight technology through interactive "Lifestyle Zones" where guests can learn about and experience wireless technology in action. Each Zone depicts ways technology can be incorporated into the home, work or on-the-go. These Zones include Amplify It, Customize It, Get Fit, Have Fun, Home and on the Go, and Anywhere Business.
Verizon opened its first Destination Store late last year at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.

To celebrate the opening of this landmark location, Academy and GRAMMY Award winning artist, Jennifer Hudson, will unveil the store's interior at an event to be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11:11 a.m. Additionally, Verizon will present a $250,000 donation to WINGS Metro, a domestic violence shelter being built on the city's south side. This will be made possible through the company's HopeLine® program, which provides funds and support to domestic violence prevention and service programs throughout the country. Immediately following the ceremony, Jennifer Hudson – the store's first official shopper – will fulfill wish lists created by domestic violence survivors from the WINGS shelter in Palatine, Ill.
Also on hand will be DigiTour Media who will bring Vine stars Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson of "Jack and Jack," and social media phenomenon Matthew Lee Espinosa to the store's grand opening. Throughout the day they will socially share the store and grand opening experience with their millions of followers.
In addition to this new Destination Store, Verizon will continue its ongoing effort to redesign company-owned retail locations, called Smart Stores, throughout the country to take the wireless customer experience to the next level.
