GLENVIEW, Ill., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- VELVEETA and RO*TEL are helping to bring a popular Southern favorite – cheese dip – into the national spotlight at the First Annual World Cheese Dip Championship. Professionals and amateurs will go head-to-head in a cheese dip showdown on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in North Little Rock, Arkansas at Dickey Stephens Park.
As the longtime makers of famous queso dip, VELVEETA and RO*TEL* are a natural fit as sponsors of the fun-filled, cheese dip tasting day to determine who deserves ultimate cheese dip bragging rights. And for those that can't attend the event but still want to experience classic great tasting queso dip, VELVEETA is giving away VELVEETA coupons on Facebook. The idea for the event all started when World Cheese Dip Championship founder, Nick Rogers, decided to make a documentary, "In Queso Fever," about the South's love of cheese dip, a passion unmatched anywhere else in America. After screening the documentary at last year's Little Rock Film Fest, Roger's decided to bring the love of cheese dip to the masses through a one of a kind World Cheese Dip Championship.

Other event activities include cheese and chip making demonstrations, arts and crafts, beer and wine and live music. And because football and cheese dip go hand-in-hand, the Arkansas/Texas A&M football game will appear live on a jumbotron.
