Appearing under the DreamWorks Animation umbrella for the first time at this year's Licensing Expo, VeggieTales will celebrate their 20th Anniversary throughout 2014 and has already inked several pivotal alliances with new licensees across key categories including:
- Novelty Toys: Round 2 LLC; LightUpToys.com, LLC
- Toddler/Infant Care and Accessories: Zydeco Studios; Nuby; Personal Care Products
- Books and Classroom Supplies: Group Publishing; Ideals Publications (a Guideposts company); Mardel (a division of Hobby Lobby)
The brand aims to continue the momentum it has seen recently in the digital category. In the last year, three of VeggieTales digital apps have risen to the number one ranking on Amazon's lists of top free, paid, and educational apps for kids. This sector of the business is an important growth area and is bolstered by the addition of three new licensees: Cupcake Digital (deluxe story experience apps), Fingerprint Play (educational game apps), and Story Panda (iPad storybook platform).
"It's an exciting time to be a Veggie-tarian!" said Greg Fritz, SVP Home Entertainment & Consumer Products for Big Idea Entertainment. "As part of the DreamWorks Animation family, VeggieTales licensees will have an unprecedented level of support. This, combined with our 20th Anniversary celebration and exciting new digital, DVD and TV content forthcoming, makes the ideal time for new partners to get on board. Together we can continue to offer young families the widest variety of quality products to enjoy."
With numerous retail programs, two DVD releases and a planned Christmas TV Special still to roll-out this year, there is much on the horizon for current and potential Veggie partners in 2013.
