USF Federal Credit Union awarded CUNA's Complete Campaign Diamond Award

TAMPA, Fla., May 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- USF Federal Credit Union's (USF FCU), Bulls Run from Bank Fees campaign recently won a CUNA Diamond Award in the Complete Campaign category. USF FCU partnered with HCP, a strategy and marketing firm based in downtown Tampa, because of their experience in the financial industry. HCP was recruited to implement a student growth plan of action that incorporated the use of social media, online contesting and an orientation marketing package for incoming freshmen.

"The results were increased membership, augmented Facebook page and overall heightened awareness of the not-for-profit credit union. During 2011, the credit union added 2,600 new members. Since this campaign was launched in the summer of 2011, the membership increased to 3,883 members -- a 24-percent increase over our marketing goal," affirmed Richard Skaggs, CEO and President of USF FCU.

Prior to the headlining news of Bank of America's statement release on charging debit card fees, USF FCU was already promoting the benefits of their low fees, while spotlighting lofty bank fees.

"We saw that something special would develop from this concept. The campaign was way ahead of the curve, being that we were one of the only credit unions talking about bank fees. USF FCU used mediums and content that would engage the attention of our target demographic -- incoming freshman," added Skaggs.

The Bulls Run from Bank Fees is still relevant and lives today. Beginning with a microsite engaging traffic from 100 hits plus per week, Bulls Run from Bank Fees has evolved into a comprehensive campaign. This campaign has proved to be one of the more successful campaigns that will continue to drive traffic to the USF Federal Credit Union.
