Wealth-X Unveils List Of Top 10 'Fiscal Cliff' Special Dividend Recipients
NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wealth-X, the ultra high net worth (UHNW) business development solution for Global Private Banks, Luxury Brands, Educational Institutions and Non-Profits, announced the top 10 recipients of special dividends as the U.S. inches closer to the edge of the 'fiscal cliff'.
American companies have been proactively declaring special dividends before the potential tax hike which could see tax rates rise to 43.4%, a result of the 3.8% ObamaCare tax and the maximum capital gain tax of 39.6%.
Emerging top of the list is Sheldon Adelson, who received the largest dividend of nearly US$1.2 billion. In second place is Thomas Frist III, who received an estimated US$497 million in special dividends. Lawrence Ellison is ranked third with an estimated dividend received of US$200 million.

The list reflects the largest shareholders who represent each of the top 10 highest special dividend-paying companies. In the fourth quarter, the total dividends received by shareholders exceeded US$2.1 billion, which represents savings of US$602 million should tax rates increase.
Commenting on the list, Wealth-X CEO, Mykolas D. Rambus said, "The combined wealth of the shareholders on the list is US$110.4 billion, representing one-fifth of the combined market capitalization of the top 10 companies. On average, these UHNWIs enjoyed tax savings that are equivalent to 1.9% of their net worth."
