US DoD Grants PacketAssure iQ1000 UC APL Approval
WALLINGFORD, CT, Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - Ultra Electronics TCS (now incorporating Ultra Electronics DNE), a leading provider of government-validated communications devices to the U.S. Department of Defense, Homeland Security and telecommunication providers, today announced the approval of the PacketAssure iQ1000 device for the US DoD's Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL).
The UC APL maintains a list of products that have achieved open standards-based interoperability and information assurance certification - through the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) - in keeping with the DoD's information technology mandates. JITC Certification ensures that products meet the ever more demanding security requirements of the DoD.
"We are extremely proud to have reached this milestone after extensive testing in accordance with the Unified Capabilities criteria," states Bill Gill, President of Ultra Electronics, TCS' US division. "Achieving this certification is yet another demonstration of our commitment to provide customers with best-in-class information assurance and interoperability. UC APL approval of the PacketAssure iQ1000 will help us continue to be a significant contributor of secure traffic management systems for the DoD."
PacketAssure iQ1000 is an intelligent Layer 2 switching solution that ensures critical traffic will always have access to bandwidth, even under congested network situations. The PacketAssure iQ1000's eight Class of Service (CoS) queues and network processors can police, mark, redirect, or block packets before queuing, delivering assured LAN switching at line speed over Gigabit Ethernet links. An intuitive user interface enables operators to quickly configure these capabilities without the need for extensive training. PacketAssure operators select traffic policies from a graphical interface to make immediate changes in traffic flow, without impacting Layer 3 devices. This feature is particularly important when operating over constrained bandwidth facilities at the network edge, a typical scenario in a tactical environment. The PacketAssure iQ1000 has an extended environmental operating range and meets Mil Std vibration and shock to survive harsh tactical environments and maximize resiliency.
