U.S. Department Of Housing And Urban Development Selects Bridgeway For Its Legal Department Operations
HOUSTON, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bridgeway Software, the most recommended provider of legal services management solutions, today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of General Counsel (OGC) has selected Bridgeway's LawManager® in order to streamline and improve the efficiency of their legal matter and workload management processes and to meet the Department's goal of transforming the way that HUD does business. Using Bridgeway, OGC can migrate from its current Enterprise Tracking System into a 21st Century turn-key, commercial-off-the-shelf, web-based solution that leverages cloud computing and SaaS technologies and vendor hosted services.
The Office of General Counsel is comprised of approximately 400 attorneys and 250 support staff located in HUD headquarters in Washington, D.C., ten Regional offices, and 36 Field offices across the United States and its provinces. In providing legal services to the Department, OGC attorneys and staff perform a variety of functions, including, but not limited to: drafting and interpreting statutes, legislation, regulations, guidance, interpretive rules or policy statements that pertain to HUD programs and initiatives; assisting with multifamily housing and other types of closings; providing ethics advice; engaging in budget and operational activities; and representing HUD in affirmative and defensive litigation.
To meet HUD's unique legal and business requirements, OGC needed a proven legal matter and workload management system that is designed specifically for attorneys, paralegals, and other legal support staff. More specifically, the OGC required a legal matter and workload management system that enables managers, staff attorneys, and support staff to record daily work items under various categories. Additional requirements included the ability to share information across offices; provide necessary customization of fields to accurately represent OGC's legal workload; maintain the necessary security and confidentiality; organize staff resources, documents, events, schedules, and contacts in an efficient and secure manner; develop accurate and detailed reports on OGC activities nationwide; eliminate duplicative data entry; and facilitate internal oversight.
"We are thrilled to welcome HUD to the growing number of government agencies that rely on Bridgeway's integrated technology approach to manage risk, control cost and ensure compliance," said Keith Okano, president of Bridgeway.
