SAN FRANCISCO, March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Salesforce [NYSE:CRM], the Customer Success Platform and world's #1 CRM company, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has launched an agency-wide $100 million Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Salesforce subscriptions. Now, HHS operating staff and divisions can purchase Salesforce through a central purchasing vehicle to help digitally transform and connect with their citizens in new ways.
Prior to this BPA, HHS lacked a strategic sourcing vehicle for agency-wide purchasing of Salesforce subscriptions. Facing high demand for CRM solutions among HHS divisions, HHS realized the benefit of addressing economies of scale and leveraging HHS buying power. With this BPA, Salesforce will be more accessible and cost-efficient for HHS divisions, enabling them to take full advantage of the Salesforce Customer Success Platform.
Using Salesforce, HHS divisions can supercharge their service to employees for all citizen interactions, such as getting real-time updates and information from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or guidance from the Administration for Children & Families (ACF) on building strong, healthy and supportive communities. In addition, HHS divisions can quickly and easily build new cloud applications, making data accessible to employees anywhere and on any device.
"Driven by the use of mobile, social and cloud technologies in their day-to-day lives, citizens are putting pressure on government agencies to modernize the way they interact and communicate with their constituents," said Dave Rey, EVP, public sector at Salesforce. "By establishing this BPA, HHS is taking a big leap forward by increasing government transparency and engagement so that its agencies can focus on what matters most -- the health and well-being of Americans."
In addition to the HHS BPA, the General Services Administration (GSA) awarded a $503 million BPA for Salesforce implementation, integration and support services for all federal government agencies eligible to order from the GSA Schedule program. Together, HHS has created an opportunity for each of its divisions to further invest in Salesforce solutions as well as share best practices and existing applications.
