MONTREAL, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- UNLTD, a mixed reality production studio with pioneers in 3D camera and shooting technology, announced today the premiere of Trinity. Trinity is coming to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive through distributor Rex Media and will start rolling out globally in more than 150 virtual reality (VR) arcades.
Trinity is a 12-minute, high-production quality, live-action, immersive, and interactive virtual reality experience. The plot is set in a future where humans have long been extinct and the last surviving androids are fighting a final war for freedom against an all-powerful God. Filmed with a combination of live actors, high-end visual effects, and volumetric filming, the narrative provides viewers with a first-of-its-kind interactive experience. The pilot episode is the first in a five episode series that will continue production in 2019.
Patrick Boivin ("Dragon Baby," "Little Ant-Man") directed the production of Trinity with the UNLTD executive team, John Hamilton, Sébastien Gros, and Robert Boulos, pioneers in 3D camera technology with decades of combined production experience. These industry veterans chose Unity Technologies, the most widely used real-time 3D development platform, to create the VR series.
"Unity's powerful XR tools empower creators with the capabilities to become the storytellers of tomorrow," said Isabelle Riva, Head of Made with Unity. "We applaud the team behind Trinity for delivering a truly immersive and entertaining experience with Unity, and we hope it will inspire other creators to delve into the world of real-time and virtual reality cinema."
In partnership with VR Junkies, the experience will be available in over 50 VR arcades across the United States as of today. Additional arcades in Canada and China will be added in early December, with partners Ctrl V and DD Space. In addition to VR arcades, Trinity will be available for purchase through the Steam store and Viveport on November 20 for $4.99.
"We pride ourselves on offering VR enthusiasts and newcomers access to the best virtual reality games and experiences in our arcade locations," said Nathan Alder, Director of Licensing of VR Junkies. "Trinity's state-of-the-art filming techniques and interactivity bring a new level of immersion and entertainment that we are certain our patrons will enjoy."
UNLTD produced Trinity in association with the Canada Media Fund. Rex Media Capital, DPT., Frima Studios and Audio-Z.
