Unleash the Potential of Young Employees
Hogan finds new workforces' lack of interpersonal skills makes them unemployable
TULSA, Okla., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- College graduates that enter the workforce this year are some of the most educated, technologically advanced and technically skilled in history. Yet, according to a recent study by the New York Times, only 56 percent of recent graduates are employed in jobs that require a college degree. Twenty-two percent are working in jobs that do not require a college degree, and 22.4 percent aren't working at all.
Although some of this phenomenon can be blamed on a sour economy, the widespread and persistent nature of un- and underemployment among recent graduates suggests this otherwise talented demographic lacks some critical competency.
"Are You Employable?" a whitepaper by Hogan Assessments, examines the psychological components of employability and career success, and seeks to answer the question of what is holding young employees back, and what companies can do about it.
