Univision's "Nuestra Belleza Latina®" Contestants Overcome Personal Fears During Heart-Racing AT&T Challenge
"Nuestra Belleza Latina" Beauties Face Nerve-Racking Tests During 2011 AT&T Challenge; Exotic Locations and Intense Tests Highlight New Products for Travelers and Families
LOS ANGELES, April 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Nuestra Belleza Latina®"* contestants have endured the most heart-pounding tests to date during the 2011 AT&T** Challenge, which featured imaginative tests at thrilling locations in Illinois, Arizona and Puerto Rico. The AT&T Challenge, a key element of the overall competition, puts contestants through a series of strenuous tests in an effort to evaluate their skills and endurance, and ability to overcome personal fears. For the 2011 AT&T Challenge, AT&T highlighted the HTC Inspire™ 4G^ and Motorola ATRIX™ 4G, designed to meet the needs of diverse consumers.
"Our commitment to empowering Hispanic consumers and making their lives easier is at the heart of what we do at AT&T," said Natalia Vargas, marketing manager for AT&T Hispanic Markets. "With the AT&T Challenge we wanted to showcase some of our latest offerings that help consumers not only during thrilling competition challenges, but on a daily basis and while on vacation. We have an exciting portfolio of handsets that offer customers video, messaging, music, cameras, e-mail and countless of useful applications to make their lives a little bit easier."
The competition's tests have viewers at the edge of their seats as emotions run high in this can't-miss show that combines the glamour of a beauty competition with the life lessons of a boot camp. The intelligent and charismatic contestants, beautiful young Latinas from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, compete for the ultimate prize — a contract to become Univision's newest on-air personality and a quarter of a million dollars in cash and prizes.
As in previous years, AT&T customers can sign up to receive weekly show alerts and highlights***, voting reminders, beauty tips and the latest scoops on the show. For more information and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, visit Nuestra Belleza Latina. AT&T also provides the voting technology that allows fans to vote for their favorite contestants via their mobile phone.
For this year, contestants were divided into two teams which were then paired up and sent to the challenge locations, with the winning team receiving $10,000. The Nuestra Belleza Latina AT&T Challenge scavenger hunt took place in the following breathtaking locations:
- Toro Verde Park, Puerto Rico. For the AT&T Challenge, Toro Verde Park offered a beautiful location coupled with heart-racing physical dares at "La Bestia" (The Beast). Toro Verde Nature Adventure Park is located in the lush mountains of Orocovis and provides the ideal setting for thrill-seekers and nature-lovers.
- Skydeck Chicago, Illinois. This 110-stories high, glass-patio observation deck at Chicago's Willis Tower posed an intense challenge for the contestants, who felt as if they were standing unsupported high above 1,353 feet in the air. Standing at 1,450 feet, the Willis Tower is the tallest building in the western hemisphere.
- White Stallion, Tucson, Arizona. Besides the sweltering heat, this location is also known for its arduous trails, wildlife native to the area and nearby ancient petroglyphs. The White Stallion Ranch and Trails are located near Saguaro National Park at the foot of the Tucson Mountains, where contestants faced the final tests of the AT&T Challenge scavenger hunt.
AT&T's commitment to innovation allows it to deliver a dynamic portfolio of culturally-relevant products and services — such as the HTC Inspire™ 4G and Motorola ATRIX™ 4G — designed for consumers to increase productivity and entertainment at home and on the go.
