PHILADELPHIA, March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) is launching Give Local Greater Philly by partnering with local nonprofits to connect donors to the organizations solving our community's most pressing challenges. The regional nonprofit community will be a part of the most exciting nationwide crowdfunding event – Give Local America – which is entering the greater Philadelphia region in a big way with the launch of Give Local Greater Philly on May 3, 2016.
Give Local Greater Philly is 24-hours dedicated to the celebration and support of nonprofit organizations through online giving at GiveLocalGreaterPhilly.org. Hundreds of nonprofit organizations are expected to join the movement to strengthen the foundation of greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey communities. On May 3, the community will be encouraged to give to United Way's Impact Fund and local nonprofits of their choice at GiveLocalGreaterPhilly.org.
"We have wanted to bring Give Local America to the greater Philadelphia area since our inaugural year because of the tremendous impact a community-driven event can have across the region," says Lori Finch, vice president of community giving, Kimbia, an online fundraising technology for nonprofits. "United Way is an ideal partner to help drive the success of our first year, and we are excited to work with them to deliver one day of unprecedented community giving."
"We are thrilled to bring Give Local America to greater Philadelphia and southern New Jersey for the first time to support regional nonprofit organizations," says Jim Cawley, president and CEO, UWGPSNJ. "For nearly 100 years, United Way has brought together members of the community, business, nonprofit, and labor sectors to change lives and strengthen communities. Together, we can drive measurable, lasting Impact that none of us can achieve alone."
