Unique Sponsorship Arrangement has Detroit Foodies Silently Powering Lick the Plate on 93.9 The River with Detroit PAL as the Beneficiary
Two Urban Science employees with an appreciation for the coverage by Lick the Plate of the culinary renaissance happening in metro Detroit and Windsor step up to sponsor the show. Then, in a double dose of altruism, allow Detroit PAL to reap the on-air and digital benefits of the sponsorship.
DETROIT, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In one of the more unique sponsorship arrangements in the Detroit and Windsor radio markets, Monica Roberts and a fellow colleague from Detroit-based Urban Science, a global automotive retail consulting firm, have pooled their resources to power Lick the Plate, the popular feature on CIDR-FM, broadcasting at 93.9 FM that tells the stories of the talent driving the Detroit and Windsor culinary scenes. When they approached Lick the Plate host David Boylan who also runs Artichoke Creative, the marketing agency that produces the show, he suggested finding a Detroit based non-profit that could benefit from the exposure. Boylan's brother Gerry Boylan sits on the board and is leading fundraising efforts as campaign co-chair for Detroit PAL and their exciting new Corner Ballpark that includes a banquet facility for special events that would be perfect to promote on Lick the Plate. Gerry Boylan presented the idea to Detroit PAL CEO Tim Richey who gave a green light to the idea immediately.
Both Urban Science employees were on board with Detroit PAL given the proximity of their office in the Renaissance Center to the Corner Ballpark and the opportunity to contribute to the youth programs PAL provides.
"We were both very excited when Artichoke Creative came back to us with the idea of teaming up with a local nonprofit to power Lick the Plate, one of our favorite foodie shows," said Monica. "When we saw firsthand what's going on at the Corner Ballpark, we knew this would be a perfect fit. Besides the youth programs, Urban Science will look at this facility to hold team events that combine athletics and food in a very historic location."
Detroit PAL CEO Tim Richey was equally impressed by the creative arrangement. "We love the exposure Lick the Plate is going to provide. It's where foodie's tune-in in Detroit and Windsor to learn about the abundance of culinary talent in this area, and those are the same folks that can take advantage of our facility for their special events. I would also like to personally thank the Urban Science pair for making this happen."
Lick the Plate airs on 93.9 The River in Detroit and Windsor, KSON, Sunny 98.1, FM94/9 in San Diego and in print and digital form in Edible San Diego and The Coast News in Encinitas, California and as a podcast on MyNorth.com in Traverse City.
