UNICEF joins a Brazilian start-up and consumers can now buy on-line and do good at the same time
The partnership between Poup and UNICEF will allow consumers to save on their online purchases and do a good deed at the same time
BRASILIA, Brazil, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- According to E-bit magazine, Brazil already has 51.3 million e-consumers, a number that is growing 26% compared to last year. Poup was created to help users save money while shopping in their favorite online stores. Now, not only will consumers be able to save online, they will also be able to help thousands of children in Brazil and the world.
Poup uses the cash-back concept, where part of the amount spent on online purchases returns to the consumer. How does this work? Poup has partnered with the largest online stores, and is paid a commission to help with these sales. The site splits its commission with the consumer, who gets back part of what he or she paid. Together, UNICEF and Poup are working to engage these consumers on behalf of children.
This is how the partnership works in practice: Once a consumer has accumulated at least R$ 30,00 and asks to withdraw the funds, the consumer is offered the choice of making an online donation to UNICEF rather than receive the full amount of the cash-back. The money that would return to the consumer is used to ensure healthcare, protection and education for thousands of children.
"We believe in the work UNICEF does and we conceived of a way to offer consumers an opportunity to donate effortlessly, using the benefit they get through Poup" said Poup Director Guga Gorenstein.
UNICEF depends entirely on individual and corporate donations for its work, hence their motto "Together for the Children". Go to http://www.poup.com.br/especiais/unicef and learn how to join UNICEF and POUP to help the boys and girls who most need help.
