Unexpected Perks of Unexpected Adventures: New Schick Hydro® and Harris Interactive Poll Finds Spontaneity May Be Key Driver of Satisfaction in Guys
Clean Break® Presented by Schick Hydro® Season Three Content to Premiere June 6 on Yahoo! and June 27 on FUEL TV
SHELTON, Conn., June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Man was meant to break free! Or at least that's when he's the happiest, according to a new Harris Interactive poll, which finds that guys who are spontaneous, adventurous and even impulsive tend to be happier. The nationally representative study, funded by Schick Hydro® in support of the brand's television series, "Clean Break ® Presented by Schick Hydro®," polled over 3,500 men and found a striking difference in overall happiness across a wide variety of spectrums. Fewer than half of the men polled feel their life is exactly the way they'd like it to be and 59 percent feel their life is currently in a rut.

However, men describing themselves as spontaneous were much more likely to:
- Be happy (72 percent versus 48 percent);
- Report higher success (51 percent versus 33 percent);
- And be satisfied with their jobs (81 percent versus 67 percent).
Adventurous men (about one-third of those polled) appear to see benefits:
- In the boardroom (51 percent believe they're more successful than other men their age, versus 31 percent of non-adventurous men);
- And the bedroom (66 percent are extremely confident in their sex lives, versus 40 percent of non-adventurous men).
A whopping 88 percent want to try new activities and experiences, and 71 percent wish they could escape their daily lives. But what does breaking free of your everyday routine have to do with a razor?
"Shaving is a guy's first step as he prepares to tackle the day ahead – we liken it to a pregame warm up or a pep talk before you take the field," said Matt Rader, Director of Marketing for Men's Razors & Blades at Energizer Personal Care®. "At Schick, we believe guys need to break free from the norms of everyday life in order to discover something entirely new, like shaving with a different razor. Schick Hydro is our best shave for a guy's skin, so why not try it?"
Produced by brand studio Content & Co™ in partnership with Schick Hydro, "Clean Break Presented by Schick Hydro" is an adrenaline-pumping television series that will premiere its third season this June on FUEL TV. The series chronicles the lives of three ordinary guys, Hal Hardy, Leon Fleisher and Allen Walker, as they undertake new adventures from skydiving to river surfing to cave abseiling. The adventures come to life in seven broadcast episodes and 21 exclusive webisodes that catalogue their 10-day journey throughout New Zealand.
Beginning June 6, viewers are invited to join in on the adventure and consider taking their own Clean Breaks by visiting screen.yahoo.com/clean-break to view exclusive webisodes, get to know the "Clean Break guys" and see exciting behind-the-scenes content. Viewers can catch up on the Hawaii season of "Clean Break" on FUEL TV beginning Thursday, June 6 at 11pm EDT, and tune in for the latest episodes of "Clean Break" in New Zealand beginning Thursday, June 27 at 11pm EDT.
"Our partnership with FUEL TV on 'Clean Break' pays homage to the transformational power of breaking free," said Rader. "This study proved that stepping outside of their comfort zones may be all men need to see improved quality of life, and the series is about showing men how to do just that."
Joined by experts and adventurers including renowned yachtsman Dean Barker, professional kayaker Ian Ferguson, Rob Cribb of the legendary All Blacks rugby team and many more, the three "Clean Break guys" tackle a physical and emotional journey, stepping outside to find what's inside.
"Clean Break has grown from a webseries to a full broadcast and digital action sports series set in extraordinary locations around the world," said Stuart McLean, founder and CEO, Content & Co. "This season, New Zealand provides the perfect backdrop for once-in-a-lifetime adventures."
"We're thrilled to have a new season of Clean Break on FUEL TV," says Mike Feller, FUEL TV VP of Programming. "The show fits perfectly with our target audience of men ages 18-49 and we're excited to watch the new cast take on challenging adventures in New Zealand."
