In addition to sponsoring a booth in the exhibit hall, UMA will also host a cocktail reception for Education Services Officers (ESOs) and military partners during the event. The 2012 CCME conference will be held at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld from February 13-16.
Academic and military audiences are well represented at the annual CCME Symposium, which brings together military educators, civilian educators, post-secondary educational institutions, and suppliers of quality education products and services. Registrants will have the opportunity to attend a variety of general sessions, concurrent sessions, panel discussions, keynotes and other special events. The theme of the 2012 Symposium is "Salute to Possibilities: Paving the Way for Our Military Community." Keynote speakers include Sir John Daniel, President of the Commonwealth of Learning, and Dan Clark, primary contributing author to Chicken Soup for the Soul.
All ESOs participating in the CCME Symposium are invited to attend the cocktail reception UMA will be hosting on Wednesday, February 15, from 5-7 p.m. The reception will be held in the Atlantis room, which is located off of the lobby on the atrium level of the Renaissance Orlando. Guests will enjoy an open bar and light hors d'oeuvres, and will have an opportunity to learn about UMA from Brian Braggs, Director of Military and Veteran Affairs, and Cristine Kreplick, Military Academic Advisor.
Both UMA representatives have military backgrounds, and understand the unique needs and challenges of military students. Braggs served in the Army, while Kreplick is a Navy veteran who supported the Marine Corps as a Hospital Corpsman, EMT and medic. As guest speaker at the cocktail reception, Kreplick will share her experiences, including her passion for healthcare education and how the military played an important role in her academic achievements.
ESOs and other military personnel can also meet with Braggs at the UMA booth in the exhibit hall, where he will be happy to provide information and answer questions on UMA's military education initiatives and online healthcare degree programs. Recognized by G.I. Jobs as a Military Friendly School®, UMA is committed to helping U.S. servicemembers, reservists, guard and veterans who wish to pursue healthcare education and allied health careers.
"I'm proud to be part of the UMA family, and I find it very rewarding to help military students achieve their education goals," said Kreplick. "Our online healthcare programs enable military students to complete their education and earn a degree, no matter where they're living or stationed. In addition, we strive to make associate degree programs affordable for those who serve - or have served - our country."
UMA accepts military tuition assistance, offers special military tuition pricing and waives its registration fee for eligible applicants. Students can also earn transfer credits for eligible military experience, which enables them to complete their education even sooner.
Braggs has been instrumental in developing UMA's military programs, and sees the CCME Symposium as an excellent opportunity for military and education representatives to exchange ideas. "Not only does the symposium allow us to share information with those interested in learning about our healthcare education offerings, but it also enables us to gather feedback on ways we can better serve our military students," he remarked. "Cristine and I look forward to meeting and speaking with the military contingent during the conference. We're also excited to host UMA's second annual CCME Symposium cocktail reception party, and I'm sure our ESO guests and partners will find it to be both fun and informative."
